Before and After School Program, Electives and Clubs
The Academies offer a rich array of electives and clubs. All students, grades 6-12, are expected to participate in at least one of our before or after-school programs, or meet the requirements for an alternative program. These value-added experiences are designed to provide students the opportunity to explore individual interests.

International Travel: Building Real-World Experiences
One of the many hallmarks of Community International Academies is the opportunity for students to see the world firsthand beginning as early as kindergarten. Students may participate in extended, overnight class trips. These experiences complement classroom instruction and include the preparation of in-depth field reports by each student on a topic on interest. In addition, we work with our high school students to plan summer and semester abroad trips.

10 Day Global Exploration Program
Students will have the opportunity to participate in inter-session programs during school holidays. Students will study an area of personal interest, in a highly focused environment, for seven to ten days with a teacher or a group of students. At the end of each Global Exploration program, students will present their findings to the school community and be evaluated by their peers and school faculty.

Sports
Our middle and high school students will be encouraged to participate on one of the Academies organized sports teams, including lacrosse, golf, soccer, basketball, and league football. Students will have opportunities to join other athletic clubs based on their personal interest.

Health and Wellness, and Physical Education
Our health and wellness program takes place in each grade. Our goal is to provide our students with meaningful and relevant information to make informed decisions through each stage of their intellectual, emotional, and physical development. Students will participate in physical fitness activities, which include but are not limited to yoga, pilates, aerobics, and strength training.

Middle and High School Ambassadors Mentoring Program
Middle and high school students may participate in a mentoring program with students from the elementary schools. This includes after school homework help, assisting teachers in classrooms, reading to younger students, and assistant coaching sports teams.

Global Habits of Mind
Students across all grade levels will focus on global habits of mind. Areas for student development include:
1) enjoyment and curiosity of learning; 2) how to organize your own learning; 3) how to participate in collaborative work; 4) how to see world issues from multiple perspectives; and 5) how to develop complex thinking and problem-solving skills.

World Arts and Music
All students at every grade level will be exposed to and learn about world arts and music. Students will visit local and national museums, attend concerts, meet artists from around the world, and take art and music classes at the Academies.

Global Leadership Program with Franklin Covey
All students will participate in CIA’s Global Leadership Program. Students will learn time management, organizational skills, group work, and leadership training. Students participate in this program beginning in grade 9. Students have the opportunity to take an international course on-line to cultivate their knowledge of other cultures.
