Overview
Community International Academies are focused on instructional practices that encourage critical thinking, creativity, self-advocacy, and healthy competition. Each CIA school faculty member is hired based upon their commitment to CIA’s mission, vision, and core beliefs. Faculty are highly qualified and dedicated to help each student discover his or her passion for learning. A variety of instructional strategies and practices will be used in the classroom. This includes traditional, experiential, and project based.
Core Curriculum
Our core curriculum is classic liberal arts taught from an international perspective: English Language Arts, math, social studies, science, foreign language, and the arts. An international perspective is integrated inside and outside the classroom through international and virtual travel and teaching from a cross-cultural perspective and through a global lens.
21st century skills will be a focus across all grade levels. Students will learn the following skills: critical thinking and problem solving, creativity and innovation, communication and information, and collaboration. Students will learn information and communications technology (ICT) literacy, life skills, and 21st century content knowledge. This includes: 1) global awareness, 2) financial, economic, business, and entrepreneurship literacy, 3) civic literacy, and 4) health and wellness awareness.
To round out their academic program, students participate in a range of activities beyond the core curriculum. These programs provide enrichment opportunities for students’ academic and personal growth. All programs intend to develop each student's leadership skills for a global world.
